Blackmer Sliding Vane Pumps
By Flow-Tech Industries

Blackmer Sliding Vane pumps have a number of vanes that are free to slide into or out of slots in the pump rotor. When the pump driver turns the rotor, centrifugal force, push rods, and/or pressurized fluid causes the vanes to move outward in their slots and bear against the inner bore of the pump casing forming pumping chambers.
As the rotor revolves, fluid flows into the area between the vanes (pumping chambers) when they pass the suction port. This fluid is transported around the pump casing until the discharge port is reached. At this point the fluid is squeezed out into the discharge piping.
All Blackmer sliding vane pumps listed here offer:

  • Unique sliding-vane pump design that enables self-adjustment for wear to maintain flow rates.
  • Excellent self-priming and dry run capabilities.
  • Mechanical seal and ball bearing construction for maximum reliability
  • Symmetrical bearing support that assures even loading and wear for long life.
  • Adjustable relief valve to protect pump against excessive pressures.
  • External ball bearings isolated from pumpage by mechanical seals to maximize bearing life and minimize contamination risk.
  • Easy maintenance: vanes can be easily replaced without removing the pump from the piping system. http://www.blackmer.com/images/Twhite.gif

Model X and GX Sliding Vane Pumps

Blackmer Model X Sliding Vane Pumps
Blackmer Model X Sliding Vane Pump

Both of Model X and GX Sliding Vane Pumps are used for pumping clean, non-corrosive industrial liquids and petroleum products. Typical applications include fuel oils, lube oils, jet fuels, gasoline, edible oils, and a variety of solvents and thinners such as esters, ketones, naphtha's, ethers, amines, aromatics, alcohol's, terpenes, glycol's and many other similar liquids.

In addition, the integral pump and reducer design of the Model GX makes it the first choice for economy and compactness. GX offers the following:

  • Integral head mounted gear reduction drive with oil lubricated, hardened helical gears.
  • Gear shafts supported at both ends by ball bearings for smooth operation and long life.
  • Splined reducer and pump shafts with dowel mounted reducer case simplifies pump and reducer alignment.
  • Reducer that can be rotated on the pump head to accommodate a variety of motor sizes without shimming.

Model HXL Sliding Vane Pump

Blackmer Model HXL Sliding Vane Pumps are available through Flow-Tech
Blackmer Model HXL Sliding Vane Pump

The Blackmer Model HXL Sliding Vane Pump is designed for high volume transfer of non-corrosive liquids ranging in viscosity from thin solvents to heavy oils and molasses. HXL pumps are specially suited for barge, ship and terminal operations where their self-priming and high suction lift capabilities enable them to strip tanks and barges clean. In addition, they feature:

  • Ductile iron construction with bolt on, internal relief valve.
  • Replaceable casing liners and end discs allow easy rebuilding of the pumping chamber to like-new condition without removing the pump from the piping.

Model ML Sliding Vane Pump

Blackmer Model ML Sliding Vane Pumps are available through Flow-Tech
Blackmer Model ML Sliding Vane Pump

Blackmer Model ML is ideal for handling everything from thin non-lubricating solvents to highly viscous liquids or abrasive slurries. Modular bearing hub assemblies allow these pumps to be easily reconfigured in the field. Pumps feature ductile iron construction with bolt on, internal relief valve Many options are available to configure the ML4 pump to your specific needs. Options include:

  • Internal sleeve bearings with external stuffing box or internal mechanical seals with external ball bearings.
  • Optional wear hardened parts for abrasive applications.
  • Jacketed pump head option for high temperature operation.
  • Optional John Crane or Flowserve mechanical (MLN4 option).
  • MLN4 optional shaft stuffing box to accommodate most standard aftermarket mechanical seal configurations.
